This one-week intensive is designed for Year 5 pupils preparing for 11+ grammar and selective independent school entrance exams in September.
It provides a focused, high-level final push, targeting the exact skills required to perform confidently under exam conditions.
🎯 Course Focus
This is not general tuition. The course is structured to develop:
Precision in comprehension
Confidence with unfamiliar question types
Clear, high-scoring written responses
Students will be guided through both first round and second round exam expectations, ensuring they are fully prepared for the demands of competitive assessments.

🔹 First Round Preparation
Advanced spelling and vocabulary accuracy
Comprehension with comparative passages
Tackling questions with more than one correct answer
Developing justification and precision in responses
🔹 Second Round Preparation
Long-answer comprehension
Structuring detailed, evidence-based responses
Understanding how to meet examiner expectations
✍️ Creative Writing (1 Focused Session)
Guided writing using a high-level exam-style prompt
Modelling of strong responses
Focus on structure, clarity and control under timed conditions
📝 Final Day Mock
On the final day, students will complete a full exam-style paper under timed conditions, followed by:
Model answers
Guided walkthrough
Clear strategies for immediate improvement

The course is led by Sheena Chan, a qualified English teacher and founder of South Croydon Tutors.
With over a decade of experience preparing students for grammar school and selective independent school entry, Sheena specialises in developing the advanced comprehension and exam technique required at the highest level.
Having also guided her own children successfully through the 11+ process, she brings both professional expertise and first-hand insight into what is needed in the final run-up to exams.

💳 Booking & Payment
Full payment is required to secure a place on the course.
❌ Cancellations & Refunds
A 14-day cooling-off period applies from the date of booking, during which a refund may be requested.
If booking is made within 14 days of the course start date, you agree for the course to begin within this period and acknowledge that your right to cancel may be affected.
To ensure accurate course planning, no refunds will be issued within 21 days of the course start date.
After the cooling-off period, all bookings are non-refundable.
Where a refund is issued, any non-recoverable payment processing fees may be deducted from the total refunded.
🔁 Missed Sessions
Missed sessions are non-refundable and cannot be transferred.
Materials may be provided where possible, but sessions cannot be repeated.
📚 Course Delivery
The course is delivered online.
Students are expected to attend on time and be ready to participate.

👥 Behaviour & Engagement
Students are expected to:

Participate fully
Follow instructions during sessions
Disruptive behaviour may result in removal from the session where necessary.
