📘 Get Ready for Year 5 (2026) – English Only Course
Give your child a focused and confident start to Year 5 – the most important year for 11+ preparation.
Running from Monday 17th – Friday 21st August, this structured one-week English course is designed for students currently in Year 4 who are moving into Year 5 and ready to begin more deliberate preparation for a range of entrance exams, including grammar schools and selective independent schools.
Each session is 1 hour daily, delivered in a small group setting to ensure clear explanation, strong engagement, and opportunities for every student to participate.
Throughout the week, students will develop:
Stronger vocabulary and precise word choice
Secure understanding of synonyms and antonyms
Confidence in using context clues to decode unfamiliar vocabulary
Key comprehension skills, including:
Retrieval
Inference
Identifying key ideas
Understanding theme and author intent
Lessons are designed to move beyond basic understanding, introducing students to the type of thinking and question styles expected in Year 5 and 11+ preparation.
This course is ideal for students who would benefit from a focused English boost before the academic year begins, particularly those preparing for upcoming entrance exams.
By the end of the week, parents will have a clearer understanding of their child’s current level, along with guidance on what to focus on in the lead-up to exams.
Delivered online via Zoom, with a face-to-face option available in CR2 (limited spaces – please enquire).
